I am writing this in bed, it is the morning and Isabelle has been fed, entertained and is now back in her cot having a morning nap. I am calling this a mini lie in for me as Arthur got up and did all this. It is a rare treat so I am making the most of it. I did spend 2 hours from 4.21am to 6.19am going back and fourth putting Isabelle’s dummy back in, so Arthur said stay in bed and catch up on some sleep. I Love those words, stay in bed. We have had a break through this week as 5 out of 7 nights Isabelle has slept through and dropped her 4am/5am feed. When I say slept through I mean, she wakes, cries I get up put the dummy in and she sleeps again. Sometimes straight back off to sleep and sometimes not hence the 2 hour dummy dance I find myself in. Back and fourth, back and fourth. If anyone out there has any advice to avoid my dummy dance please do say. I know we have probably made a future situation for ourselves with the dummy but for now it settles her and we will deal with those consequences as and when. I have had ‘unwanted comments’ again with regards to using a dummy; maybe I should shove a dummy in their mouths.
Last week Isabelle earned her first pocket money as she modeled some super cute sleepsuits and cosy jackets for Mamas & Papas. It was so much fun and I loved being back at work seeing the team and hanging out with Ian the photographer and Karen the Stylist. Izzy gave some gorgeous smiles as she worked the camera. There was a bit of baby sick here and there but that’s just how she rolls. The little lady went straight to sleep after her last shot, what an easy life. What will she spend her pocket money on a Christmas party dress for Mummy or an everlasting supply of milk?
Arthur’s on half term this week but still has loads of work to do for school but we decided to have a family date day and spend some much needed quality time together. It’s a really tough year for Arthur being an NQT and I’m aware he is missing out on Izzy time not to mention time with his lovely wife! So it is important to grab the time where you can. We had a saunter round Greenhead Park and a very tasty lunch at the conservatory cafe. It was so lovely spending the time together just the three of us. Isabelle demanded her feed halfway round the park so it was a park bench stop off and a bottle just not with a brown paper bag.
Dear Arthur’s job, please can you give him some slack and let us have more family date days?
