I feel like I have been handed a golden ticket, a golden ticket of time. As I am approaching my phase back to work Isabelle is starting her own journey as she is having settling in sessions with Anneli, the childminder. So I was given 2 hours of Jenny time this week, how would I spend this gift of time? I didn’t want to waste it on cleaning or other really exciting house chores. Anyway doesn’t dust start cleaning itself if you leave it long enough? It had to be something special and that was just for me… me, me, me! I did consider a massage treatment or hair cut but with our new VERY low budget in place that just wasn’t to be. Instead I opted for a rather lovely coffee date in town with a tall, rather handsome yet tired looking husband. It was exactly what we needed. Our lives get so busy it’s all too easy to not have time for each other. So after our coffee chat we headed home and made sure we made the most of our time, read into that what you will.
When we excitedly arrived to pick Isabelle up she was so engrossed with a duplo brick she didn’t even really notice us, almost gave us that moody teenage look as in ‘do I really have to leave?’ A green duplo brick and a shiny new childminder that’s how it is now, we’ve been replaced. Anneli wrote a page update in Isabelle’s diary, which is a great way of keeping a record but also a great way of keeping us involved too. Entry 2.45pm: Isabelle has done a poo. Oh it’s going to be a great read glad I didn’t get round to joining the local book club after all, can’t wait for the sequel ; ).
I am starting to feel excited about going back to work too and can’t wait to get my teeth into a juicy project and office banter, although I really need to brush up on my language skills as the words I use regularly with Isabelle wa, da, ma ma, whoah, meeeow might be too advanced for my work colleagues, let the banter begin! Seeing Isabelle play at Anneli’s this week has made me feel so much happier about my imminent return to work. She looked so content and the other children seemed quite taken with their new teammate even if she did stink the room out. Like father like daughter! My days off and weekends with Isabelle will be cherished. Enjoy life in every moment, even the stinky ones.
In other news I have a rather strange extra growth of ‘under fringe’. What is that all about? This post pregnancy lark is full of surprises. Double decker fringe hasn’t quite made it to the Toni & Guy catwalk just yet.
