Welcome to our new and rejuvenated blog!
At Mamas & Papas we want to be there with you as you take those first steps into parenthood, linking arms and steadying you as we go. A bit like after a night out, only this time we won’t be fetching a bucket or holding your hair back.
We want to support you, not just by creating innovative and stylish products, but by helping provide advice and sharing stories with other parents. We’ve redesigned our blog to create a place where you can come, read interesting and entertaining articles and realise you are not alone.
So, without further ado, welcome to the family…
A Little Bit About Us
Here at Mamas & Papas we have a strong set of brand values. They are the special ingredients that help make us the company you know and love. They are a set of rules we use when making every decision. They are our Ten Commandments (although we only have eight of them).
We pride ourselves on thinking differently and ensuring that our products have a thoughtful design that is both vibrant and supportive whilst being imaginative and warm. We care too much to compromise on our creations; so our set of rock solid standards ensures that throughout the entire process families come first.
We know how parents think and we understand what babies’ need – so by working hard to assist both parents and children we aim to be closer to the heart of parenting than any other nursery brand.
In 1979 – when Rod Stewart was asking if you thought he was sexy – David and Luisa Scacchetti gave birth to their daughter, Amanda. As a result, Mamas & Papas was born.
Right from the start, the small but determined boutique in Huddersfield knew what it wanted – high quality baby products that weren’t just functional but fashionable as well. David and Luisa created the Mamas & Papas brand values and have adhered to them ever since.
By the time 1982 came round it was definitely the Year of the Olivia’s. Not only was a certain Newton-John getting Physical in the charts but the Scacchetti’s welcomed the arrival of baby Olivia too. This new bundle of joy appeared as we continued to expand and diversify, whilst remaining true to our core promises.
Today Mamas & Papas is a bit bigger than a boutique, David and Luisa no longer have to man the till or make the tea, but they are still fully involved in the business as it continues to flourish. Amanda and Olivia have taken over the reins of the company and are pushing even harder to guarantee that we are always there for parents.
As the Product Design and Development Director, Amanda oversees the creation of all our products, constantly making sure they have a thoughtful, vibrant design that supports parents and babies. She ensures that we are thinking beyond the basic needs of families to find solutions to any and all difficulties they face.
Olivia is always on-hand to make sure that we are adhering to our core company values. As Creative, Brand and Marketing Director, she helps us to stay warm, imaginative and close to families and their needs.
In the last 25 years, Mamas & Papas has come a long way (although we’re only down the road from the first boutique), and while the company continues to grow and expand – not only in the UK but internationally – we still keep our eye on those core brand values. They keep us grounded, they ensure we always put innovation at the forefront of our designs and they guarantee that we always put families first.
At Mamas & Papas we know families, because we’re family.
