TOP FIVE FILMS FOR A RAINY DAY
At Mamas & Papas, we love films! We know parents are supposed to bang on about playing outside and making your own fun, and we do love that, but you can’t beat a good film, especially when the weather turns.
Our All Wrapped Up campaign takes us to rainy day films, and we had a blast trying to find the best films for family cuddles on miserable days. So without further ado, here are our Top Five Films for a Rainy Day:
FIVE: PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR
We picked this one for the simple reason that it makes us laugh. Really laugh. We know little ones love this, but as grown ups, we really should be able to hold it together better than we do.
Following everyone’s favourite escapee penguins as they find themselves embroiled in a spy plot to save endangered animals, you couldn’t hope for a funnier film.
FOUR: BEDKNOBS AND BROOMSTICKS
We went classic with this one, as it’s a firm family favourite. If there’s anyone who doesn’t like Angela Lansbury, we don’t want to meet them. This Disney film gives her one of her best roles as a slightly inept home-taught witch in wartime Britain.
Featuring a great cast, including Mary Poppins’ own Mr Banks, David Tomlinson, and a selection of brilliant sequences including a jungle football match and empty armour battles – it’s a little bit odd, yet we can’t help but love it.
This is one of the newest titles on our list, but it’s already become a much-loved favourite round these parts. A brilliantly funny script and amazing cast bring Michael Bond’s favourite bear to life.
If you haven’t seen it yet, we really suggest you do. You and your little ones will love it! Best enjoyed with a marmalade sandwich or two.
TWO: WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
Another classic, and to be clear, we don’t mean the weirdo Johnny Depp one. This is the original and best. And, seeing as it’s written by Roald Dahl, himself, you can’t as for a more original take on the story.
With the best Willy Wonka committed to celluloid (sorry Johnny) this is an exciting tale about what happens to naughty boys and girls who only want more. Plus there are lots of mouth-watering sweets in it. An everlasting gobstopper, anyone?
ONE: TOY STORY 3
We knew we wanted a Toy Story film on this list, but we didn’t know which one. In fact, all three would make pretty good wet weekend viewing, but if we had to pick, it’s probably number three.
Cosy days in are great for watching a film that brings a tear to your eye and this one certainly does that. While little ones will love the adventure, there’s a certain special something for those parents who, like Andy, are growing up and handing down their favourite playtime traditions. We’re getting teary just writing this.
So there we have it, our Top Five Films for a Rainy Day. And because we’re all about wrapping up warm, don’t forget to check out our range of cosy blankets.
