ALTERNATIVE DATE IDEAS FOR YOUR MANDPNIGHTOFF
So, you’re going out on a date. You’ve got your babysitting voucher– courtesy of Mamas & Papas – you’ve finally had that long-over due shower, you’re all dolled up and ready to go. The only thing is – where do you go?
With so much choice out there, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Any exciting notions of spontaneity end up being a swift half at your local and a booth at the back of Pizza Express.
To shake up your dating game, we’ve come up with six alternative suggestions for what to do with your one night off. Depending on whether you like to play things nice and easy, or enjoy something a little more athletic, we’ve got your date sussed.
LUMINOUS MINIATURE GOLF- BATH
Who doesn’t love mini-golf? If you ask us, the real game could be vastly improved with the inclusion of a windmill and snapping crocodile. Not such a great idea in these winter nights, you might think, but you’d be wrong. The clever people of Bath have added some UV paint to golf balls for an extra touch of night-time fun.

THE GAUCHO FILM CLUB – NATIONWIDE
Fancy catching a film? How about a meal? What about both? Gaucho has started a unique film club that lets you enjoy your favourite films and then sample some of the delights you’ve just witnessed. Next up is Elf, so expect plenty of candy canes, candy corns, syrups and gumdrops. Let’s just hope they never show Silence of the Lambs!
For more information, visit Gaucho’s website.
FOOT GOLF – LEEDS
Playing five a side isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when you plan a date – but if you do like something a little more energetic, you could do a lot worse than Foot Golf. Combining the long ranges and deep holes of golf, with the kicking and mud of football, Foot Golf is a new date experience and lots of fun. Wrap up warm and enjoy something a little different.
Leeds Golf Centre has their own course, book your game now.
CHRISTMAS OUTDOOR SCREENINGS – LONDON
A film is a classic date staple, but if you fancy putting a twist on it, why not take part in an outdoor screening? With plenty of Christmas films to get through before January, when watching them becomes a cry for help, experience some of your festive favourites in a whole new way. Wrap up toasty, with a flask and some winter snacks, and you can’t help but get caught up in the excitement.
With screenings nationwide, you’re sure to find something, but if you’re in London, check out Pop Up Screens.
GIN TASTING – EDINBURGH
It’s your first date in a long time, and no doubt your first day away from the kids in even longer – it’s only fair to assume that you’ll need something a little stronger. For a more sophisticated way to relive your drunken youth, try a gin tasting evening. There are lots popping up around the country, but for a really authentic experience, we recommend One Square, Edinburgh.

SPA DAY – NATIONWIDE
If it’s relaxation and luxury you need, then you can’t beat a spa day. Indulge yourself with some treatments, give in to a massage, or just sit in the Jacuzzi and break wind, safe in the knowledge that no one will find out.
Whatever you choose, visit Spa Breaks to find your nearest retreats.
