ARMADILLO REVIEW BY GREGORY STANTON
You have a brilliantly, spectacularly, exciting day out planned, but now you have a little person in tow and they will need to nap, eat and be entertained all on that one trip, and that is scary. That is where the Armadillo really is the perfect pushchair – you can adjust the seat to any position from laying totally flat, which is perfect for when they are sound asleep and you are blissfully eating your lunch with both hands, to sitting upright and watching the world go by, to everything in between – lounging, dozing, playing … you get the picture!
One of the hardest things for us as new parents was maintaining our sense of freedom, Etta needed to feel safe, comfy, satisfied, and providing that environment away from home was hard and scary and meant that most big ‘day out’ plans ended with Alice in tears on the train platform. I’m convinced that if we had had the Armadillo at that baby-baby stage, she would have been more confident that Etta was happy and would have been able to enjoy her days out!
Large hood = darkness. Darkness = sleep. That’s really all I need to say, this pushchair has the biggest hood I have seen so far, mothers have actually stopped me to ask where we have got our hood, assuming it’s an add-on.
For Etta (and I think for most toddlers) having a good solid nap makes us way more likely to get an interruption-free night so daytime naps are very important to us and the less disturbed our little lady is while she naps, the more likely we are to get a good hour+ of nap time.
It may sound a little crazy but I take immense joy from being able to turn down the ’5p shopping bag’ every time we go for our weekly shop. You see people in front of you cursing themselves for forgetting their ‘life bags’ at home or in the car; I am very, very forgetful but this pushchair means that I never need to admit to it in public. You can get an entire week’s worth of groceries under the Armadillo easily!
We have also tried, tested and are happy to say that the Armadillo has passed the ever-growing list of Etta’s ‘leaving the house necessities’ which includes nappies, wipes, food (she’s picky), her water, her milk, her snacks, at least two changes of clothes, her mouse soft toy, her bunny soft toy, her baby (why does the baby have a baby??), the baby’s pram, the baby’s plastic bottle and the baby’s change of clothes.
We love a good cafe, the type where you can barely breath because it is actually a garage and should only have 3 people in there at any one time (and not the 25 hipsters who are all crammed in) but going into a cafe with a baby and pushchair is a recipe for disaster. But with a flick of the wrist this pram folds up to next to nothing which is perfect for our incredibly not-child-friendly vices.
Basically the Armadillo does the absolute best job that any baby product (let alone pushchair) could ever do for a parent; it makes your life easier and more easily enjoyable, which makes you happier, which makes you a better parent. It really is a win-win!!
